About blog
Hi, nice to see you here.
I’m Tomek, I have been working with FEA calculations for several years. Privately, I am a fan of open-source software. In this blog I want to combine these two things and do an overview of available open-source software for engineering simulations.
Open source is a type of free software. It is characterized by the fact that the source code is accessible to everyone.
The finite element method is used to solve physics problems by dividing the whole system into small fragments. The most common application is strength analysis where the object is divided into finite elements to find the stresses and displacements of the object under given boundary conditions (forces, pressures, displacements).
